Stepfather held hostage at knifepoint for 15 hours

Jordan Howe

Jordan Howe barricaded himself and his victim into a bedroom and repeatedly held a kitchen knife to his stepdad’s throat and talked about wanting to die.

Ieuan Bennett, prosecuting, told Cardiff Crown Court that at around 2pm on October 4 last year Howe's stepfather returned to his Pontypridd home to find the defendant - who was living with him - sitting on the sofa holding a kitchen knife.

He said Howe was “flicking” the knife from hand to hand and the stepdad believed he had taken drugs and thought it would be prudent to leave the flat and mentioned to Howe that he was going to see his sister.

At this Howe became “agitated” and began talking about masked men who were threatening to hurt him.

He then rang his sister and started talking about dying before accusing people of being involved in a “conspiracy” against him.

The prosecutor said Howe then pushed his stepfather into a bedroom and held the knife to his victim's neck.
