SMPC net dips on lower prices

Consun-ji-led Semirara Mining and Power Corp. (SMPC) reported a drop in its net income due to lower coal and electricity prices.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Monday, Aug. 4, SMPC recorded that its consolidated net income in January to June this year decreased to P8.4 billion from P12.6 billion in the same period last year.
According to SMPC, lower electricity prices declined from higher levels in 2023.
Its net income for the quarter ending June also dropped to P4.1 billion from P6.1 billion a year earlier, as coal and electricity rates continued to ease.
