Rise in HIV cases in PH world's fastest; nat'l public health emergency sought

Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Ted Herbosa has urged President Marcos to declare a national public health emergency over the alarming rise in Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) cases, deemed fastest in the world.
"Fifty-seven new cases a day. That's a 500-percent increase. We have the highest number of new HIV cases in the world. That's what's alarming," Herbosa said during a radio interview, Sunday, June 1.
The DOH, he said, has already launched several interventions, but the worsening situation demands stronger national action.
