PBBM respects impeachment process – PCO
Manila Bulletin
|January 20, 2026
Malacañang said President Marcos respects the filing of an impeachment complaint against him at the House of Representatives, stressing that such action is part of the democratic process under the Constitution.
Pusong Pinoy Party-list Rep. Jett Nisay endorsed on Monday morning, Jan. 19, the impeachment complaint filed by a private citizen, lawyer Andre de Jesus, on the grounds of culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, and graft and corruption. The verified complaint was received by House Secretary General Cheloy Garafil.
In a statement on Monday, Jan. 19, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) said it recognizes the right of individuals or groups to file complaints and expressed confidence that Congress, as a coequal branch of government, will act with “honesty, integrity, and fidelity to the rule of law.”
The PCO said President Marcos “fully upholds the Constitution” and remains confident in the strength of the country’s democratic institutions despite the complaint filed against him. It underscored that while constitutional processes are underway, the President will continue to discharge his duties and ensure that government operations remain uninterrupted.
“Public services remain uninterrupted, and the work of government stays focused on improving the lives of our people,” it said.
The PCO added that the administration remains committed to stability, accountability, and good governance amid the political development.
