PBBM orders lifestyle check on gov't officials

- BY BETHEENA UNITE and ARGYLL CYRUS GEDUCOS

No one will be spared in flood control probe

All government officials—ally or not—will be included in the investigation over the anomalous flood control projects and will face charges if evidence warrants it.

Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro gave this assurance on Wednesday, Aug. 27, as she bared that President Marcos is bent on filing cases against those who are involved in the incomplete and ghost flood control projects.

He will spare no one, even those who are close to him, in the investigation, she added.

"He is determined to file charges against those who are accountable. No one will be spared, whether they are close to the heart or allies, whoever is involved here will be charged," Castro said in a Palace briefing.

Lifestyle check ordered

President Marcos also ordered lifestyle checks on government officials as part of an ongoing investigation into anomalous flood control projects.

Castro said the lifestyle checks are expected to start with DPWH officials who have been linked to questionable projects.

"President Marcos has ordered lifestyle checks on all officials amid the investigation into anomalous flood control projects," she said. "We cannot deny that there are DPWH officials allegedly involved, and most likely the checks will start there." However, Castro said the order could extend to other agencies if links to irregularities are discovered.

"All those implicated in anomalous flood control projects will be covered," she said.
