President Marcos is set to travel to Washington, D.C. in the United States from July 20 to 22 as the two allied countries continue their high-level discussions on economic and security cooperation.

Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro bared this on Friday, July 11, confirming the statement of United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Malaysia on Thursday that President Marcos will head to the US in a few days. Castro, however, did not expound on the details of the trip these are still being finalized.

Speaking to international press in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Rubio said the US looks forward to hosting the Philippine leader following what he described as excellent trilateral engagements with Japan and the Philippines.

"We have a great relationship with Japan and the Philippines, and work very closely with them on the economic corridor, on maritime security, and territorial integrity and continue to build upon that partnership," he said, stressing that the US is looking forward to hosting the Philippine president in Washington.
