CHR to Filipinos: 'Think critically, act ethically online'

The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) urged all Filipinos to “strengthen their capacity to think critically and act ethically online” as the country joins the global celebration starting Oct. 24 of the Media and Information Literacy (MIL) Week.

In a statement, the CHR said that the MIL should not be treated as just a technical skill but as a vital human right in the digital age.

The theme of this year’s MIL celebration from Oct. 24-31 is “Minds Over Al — MIL in Digital Spaces.”

The website of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) states that the MIL “is a major occasion for mobilizing worldwide stakeholders to raise awareness, increase national take-up and celebrate the progress achieved toward Media and Information Literacy for all.”
