United target Martinez left out of squad

EMILIANO Martinez was left out of the Aston Villa squad to face Crystal Palace last night, fuelling rumours of a potential transfer to Manchester United.

The 32-year-old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford before this evening's 7pm deadline, as the Reds search for a new goalkeeper.

It emerged on Saturday that United were considering a late swoop for Martinez after Altay Bayindir made another mistake during their 3-2 win against Burnley. The Argentina international, who has received multiple offers, is reported to be waiting on a move to the Reds.

Villa left Martinez, pictured inset, out the squad to take on Palace in the Sunday evening kickoff as speculation continues to rise over his future.
