Starling, I love you
Manchester Evening News
|September 19, 2025
THE weather is definitely turning and after a glorious summer we are now on the cusp of a wet, wet, wet autumn and winter.
I have just been out with the dog and we look like two soggy rags in a bucket, but what fun we had chasing Ted's ball in the rain.
And as I now sit down to relax with a warm cuppa and dry clothes, I begin to appreciate just how important my bird table is to our feathery garden visitors.
A mix of seed, fruit and meal worms and two hanging fat ball holders is providing some additional food for the birds to supplement their diets of berries, seed and bugs.
People are already asking when the starling murmurations begin at our Brockholes Nature Reserve.
