AS A former world champion in the boxing ring, Ricky Hatton inspired millions around the world.

- By STEPHEN TOPPING

But The Hitman had another crucial legacy that helped countless men who have found themselves in difficult times.

His brutal honesty about his mental health opened up tough conversations for men across the UK. And those conversations are vital.

According to the Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), a charity for which Hatton was an ambassador, 125 people take their own life every week nationwide.

Men make up more than three-quarters of that number. Suicide is the biggest killer for men aged under 50.

It’s the reason why Elaine Roberts and Luke Ambler set up Andy’s Man Club in 2016.

After Andrew Roberts died by suicide that year, aged 23, mum Elaine and brother-in-law Luke wanted to make a difference.
