THERE'S a scene tonight, in episode two of this football drama, where England manager Gareth Southgate starts doing something odd with his lower lip. It’s as if he’s trying to dislodge a seed stuck between his teeth.

This is during the Euro 2020 final, when opponents Italy have started to take control.

I assume it’s a nervous mannerism that the real Southgate, as opposed to the one played here by Joseph Fiennes, is known for, which I've simply never spotted myself. Even so, I find it quite distracting.
