MOTORISTS SLAM DELAYS IN 'EXPRESS PICK-UP AREA' FOLLOWING BARRIER ISSUE

THERE was 'chaos' at Manchester Airport as motorists reported getting stuck for an hour in queues to escape a car park.

One taxi driver claimed to have spent just over 60 minutes attempting to leave the car park after picking up passengers, which left fed up motorists 'honking their horns' in what he described as 'manic' scenes.

Pictures showed winding queues in the short stay express pickup area in Terminal One, which some taxi drivers and card holders were told had temporarily moved and repurposed at the meet and greet returns area.

It's understood the temporary decision was made as part of 'ongoing efforts to improve safety and efficiency' with further changes expected following the closure of Terminal One and major move to a two-terminal international airport.

But after the change was introduced yesterday, pictures showed long queues of cars waiting to be let out of the car park with others also 'trapped in spaces'.
