2 arrested as shots blasted in 'drug feud'

THE spectre of gun crime again erupted in Salford in the early hours of yesterday after shots were fired on a residential street.

The incident began when shots were fired into the air outside a house in Whit Lane.

The discharges were blanks and two casings were found in the street. Within just over an hour Greater Manchester Police had two suspects in custody.

Police were called at 12.39 am and two men were arrested by 1.45 am. A major investigation is ongoing, but it is believed a drugs dispute may be the root cause of the shooting. It is thought a firearm was discharged as a warning.

In a statement, a Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to reports of a firearms discharge outside a property on Whit Lane in Salford at 12.39 am this morning (March 3). Thankfull,y no one was injured.
