Golf centre puts in plans for padel courts

A GOLF centre has applied for planning permission for four padel courts on part of a former nine-hole course which became unviable after some of the land was purchased for the Poynton Relief Road.

Adlington Golf Centre, which opened in 1992 as a driving range, now incorporates an academy course, a pitch and putt course and a graduate course.

The centre has always operated as a 'pay-and-play' facility and is open to all members of the public without any private membership requirements.

In 2017 planning permission was granted for the Poynton Relief Road, and Cheshire East acquired part of a former nine-hole graduate golf course at the centre under compulsory purchase powers.
