All aboard for the 'North Pole'

MORE than 140 local children were surprised with a once-in-a-lifetime Christmas trip to the 'North Pole' to spot Santa.

The youngsters jetted off from Manchester Airport over the snowcapped peaks of North Wales, giving the magical illusion of Santa's home.

They were entertained on board by Santa's elves, and even had a visit from the man himself as they felt a slight wobble and a sleigh seemed to gently touch down on the plane before Father Christmas appeared from the cockpit.

The trip was organised by Childflight, a North-West children's charity which provides flights and holidays for children who are unwell or living stances.
