'Flawed' tariffs could lead to 'global slump'

DONALD Trump's tariffs are not going to make America great again, an economic expert claims.

Dr Huw Edwards, an expert in international economic relations and trade theory and policy from Loughborough University, said the American president's understanding of economics is flawed.

He said: “Donald Trump's approach to trade is driven by a series of misconceptions and contradictions.

“He views negotiations as being a one-off zero sum game.

“As a result, he focuses on extracting as much as possible from the people/countries on the other side of the table.
