Dodgers want to build up catcher before he returns to field full time
Will Smith's hand fracture has healed. He is physically capable of hitting, catching and throwing from behind the plate.
He made his first appearance of this postseason for the Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Division Series on Saturday, playing the final five innings after entering as a pinch-hitter and taking over catching duties mid-game.
