Phase one of hub opens its doors to visitors
Llanelli Star
|October 22, 2025
RESIDENTS and sports clubs in Llanelli have been the first people to be welcomed through the doors of the town's newly opened Canolfan Pentre Awel.
Carmarthenshire Council leader Cllr Darren Price and cabinet members greeted the local community through the doors as it opened to the public last Wednesday.
One of the largest regeneration schemes in South West Wales, Canolfan Pentre Awel is phase one of the Swansea Bay City Deal project, which has been jointly funded by UK and Welsh Governments and Carmarthenshire Council.
The funding provided from the Swansea Bay City Deal (UK and Welsh governments) is £40m.
Work on the project started in early 2023 and the first phase finally opened after a series of delays.
The council had hoped to complete Canolfan Pentre Awel, initially known as Zone 1, by last autumn.
