Brazilian, 28, launched attack in city centre

- By ADAM EVERETT

A "RAGING" thug chased his boyfriend down a city centre street while swiping at him with two knives.

William de Castro Rodrigues' partner was wearing only a pair of flip-flop 'sliders' on his feet at the time of the incident, with the vicious assault continuing even after he had stumbled to the ground due to his footwear.

The attack was said to have followed a row between the couple in the early hours, and only ended thanks to the intervention of police officers who happened to be passing.

Rodrigues then offered an excuse that was labelled "absolute nonsense" by a judge, and was ultimately left in tears as he was locked up.

Liverpool Crown Court heard on Friday that William da Silva was standing outside the flat where the Brazilian couple were staying on Berry Street in Liverpool city centre at around 7am on September 27 this year. CCTV footage then captured Rodrigues emerging from the property wielding two kitchen knives.
