FEDERICO CHIESA dedicated his first Premier League goal to Diogo Jota and declared his love for Liverpool amid continued transfer speculation.

- By IAN DOYLE Chief LFC Writer

Chiesa came off the bench to put the Reds back ahead with just two minutes of normal time remaining as they ultimately earned a 4-2 win over Bournemouth in the opening Premier League game of the season on Friday evening.

It was really emotional. ‘The goal was for him.

“In my mind, Diogo was somewhere in here helping me to score this goal. I would like to think of it like that.

“He is always going to be with us. It was tough today but it was a great atmosphere, the fans were amazing throughout the game.”

A lack of minutes last season has seen Chiesa linked heavily with a move back to Italy, although Liverpool's lack of forward options has prompted head coach Arne Slot to dismiss such talk at present.
