MUSEUM CAN STAY OPEN THANKS TO HUGE FUNDRAISING EFFORT

A POPULAR Merseyside attraction has been saved from imminent closure thanks to an 'extraordinary' fundraising effort from supporters and members of the public.

In June, the ECHO reported that The World of Glass museum in St Helens was facing closure and the prospect of making all of its staff redundant due to funding issues.

Museum bosses said they would need to raise £50,000 in three months to stay open and launched a crowdfunding campaign. The news was particularly painful as the museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year as a 'living tribute to St Helens' industrial legacy' and a vital hub for education, community events and heritage preservation.
