'We miss the player and the man, but we can't use it as an excuse'

ARNE Slot admits he doesn’t know how the tragic death of Diogo Jota is affecting Liverpool this season.

But the Reds boss will not use it as an excuse for his team’s underwhelming start to the season so far.

Jota was killed along with his brother Andre Silva in a car crash in July in northern Spain as he travelled back to Merseyside to begin preseason training. They were on their way to catch a ferry after the striker had been advised not to fly on medical grounds.
