Venue 'heartbroken' as it closes for good

THE team behind Wavertree Town Hall say they are “heartbroken” that the restaurant, bar and function space has permanently closed.

The community venue, which has endured a challenging history, thanked guests for their support over the past five years.

Built in 1872, Wavertree Town Hall served the local community until it fell into disuse in the 1970s and was threatened with demolition in 1979.

Local entrepreneur Eric Rooke took over the building, transforming it into a public house, which gained popularity but closed again in the early 21st century.
