Urgent measles warning sparked by infection rise

PARENTS and carers across Merseyside are being warned about a rise in the spread of measles in the region.

Professor Matthew Ashton, the Director of Public Health for Liverpool City Council, has issued an urgent letter to schools, nurseries and childcare settings across the city with urgent advice for those whose children may be presenting with symptoms of the infection.

In his letter, he says “measles is on the increase in Merseyside,” before detailing the symptoms of the highly contagious viral infection.
