Midwives at the Midwifery Led Unit at Liverpool Women's Hospital yesterday

Mum Amy Doherty and dad Bryan Doherty, from Norris Green, welcomed their son Oscar into the world yesterday morning at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

Oscar was born at 10.15am and his arrival was a bit of a surprise for the couple. Amy, 27, said: “He was due on the 27th and we thought, you'll come on Christmas Day. Obviously New Year is the next best time to have a baby. Everyone said, it'll be this day, it’ll be that day, but no-one said New Year's Day.”
