Seaside's Day of the Dead festival

SOUTHPORT'S Day of the Dead festival returned last weekend with an evening filled with fire, rhythm and colour.

The festival took over the seaside town's amusement park, Adventure Coast, on Saturday for the first of two celebrations.

Mexico's Dia de los Muertos is a traditional holiday celebrated on the first two days of November. Rather than mourning death, Dia de los Muertos celebrates life and memory. Families believe that during these days, the souls of the departed return to visit the living. It's a joyful reunion between the worlds of the living and the dead.
