Nathan thanks family for inspiring bronze medal
Liverpool Echo
|October 03, 2025
NATHAN MAGUIRE says fervent family support propelled him to a battling bronze medal at the World Para Athletics Championships.
The Salford-born wheelchair racer, who studied at Liverpool John Moores, grabbed his second global gong by finishing third in the T54 1500m in New Delhi.
Maguire, 28, is married to nine-time Paralympic Hannah Cockroft, who won her 18th world title the previous evening in the T34 100m. Cockroft, plus Maqguire's parents and a bumper British coaching contingent, were all in attendance at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium to roar the Greater Manchester star on in Thursday morning's final.
And Maguire says that impact was what helped him haul himself onto the podium.
“The support was incredible,” he said.
