THE Dovecot community is in shock today after the sudden death of a local grandmother sparked a murder investigation. Now, local people are being urged to do their bit by coming forward with any information about the tragic situation.

- By LIAM THORP AND BEN HASLAM

Dovecot councillor Harry Doyle has described the shock felt in the community and urged anyone who might have crucial information to come forward.

He told the ECHO: "I heard the news earlier today after being told by local police officers. It is obviously very shocking.

"There was some noise in the area about someone passing away, but we did not know until today that it was a potential murder.

"I have spoken to residents today who are obviously very upset that this has happened on their street.

"The fact that the victim is believed to have lived alone is obviously terrible and scary.

Cllr Doyle added: "We don’t know anything about the potential perpetrator at the moment, but it is very important for people to pass on any information they may have.

"This might be Ring doorbell footage. Even if you don’t think it is helpful, it could be."
