TEST EVENTS PLANNED AS COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO CURTAIN-UP AT REBORN THEATRE

- By DAVID HUMPHREYS Local Democracy Reporter

GOLDEN STAGE

A SERIES of test events are to be held as part of the £1m plans to reopen the Epstein Theatre.

Almost two years ago, the Grade II listed theatre on Hanover Street closed its doors for what many feared would be the final time after the city council withdrew financial support.

But it was announced last week that the 112-year-old venue would be reborn later this year.

Anthony Proctor-Williams said he would return to the Epstein as gen- eral manager.

Now, more details have been released on the programme of events for raising the curtain again.

Despite pulling its funding for the site, Liverpool Council retains the freehold on the theatre.

During the two years before its closure in 2023, it was run by Epstein Entertainments Ltd.
