WORKERS in Liverpool will take strike action next week after their trade union claimed their employer was “imposing pay cuts”.

Unite members employed by finance sector outsourcer Diligenta are set to take industrial action.

The business has an office on Old Hall Street in Liverpool city centre.

Formerly known as Royal Insurance and now part of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), it employs more than 500 people, according to Unite, and it has been part of Liverpool's employment fabric for generations. It specialises in providing business process services for the life and pensions industry.

Unite say the strike action is a result of Diligenta’s management failure to give its workforce an acceptable pay rise this year.

Approximately 1,000 Unite members working at Diligenta sites in Liverpool, Glasgow, Reading, Edinburgh and Stirling will hold an initial 24-hour strike on Tuesday November 18 from 12.01am until 11.59pm.
