A VIOLENT man from Leicestershire put his partner through a horrifying ordeal after pressing a blade against her neck and striking her arm with a hurling stick.

He subsequently said sorry and made her promise she wouldn't contact police before departing with a knife tucked into his sock.

Damien Shearer, 45, had been drinking with the woman at a rugby club in Newport, Wales, on July 14 last year, before catching a taxi to the city centre where he drank 10 pints of beer.

When the woman expressed her desire to return home, he became furious and hurled the sole set of house keys at her.

He pinned her to the bed again and held the knife towards her and his own wrists causing her “abject fear”.
