RESIDENTS AND PARISH COUNCIL RAISE OBJECTIONS

Concern at homes plan close to historic manor

CONTROVERSIAL plans for 54 “affordable” homes near one of Leicestershire’s oldest buildings have sparked opposition from residents and the local parish council.

The development site in Hugglescote sits close to the medieval Donington le Heath Manor House, right, which dates back to around 1280, and the 13th century St John the Baptist church.

Developer MyPad has submitted an outline application to North West Leicestershire District Council for the development on 4.14 hectares - the equivalent of around four football pitches - of agricultural land on Ashburton Road.

The proposals would deliver 100 per cent affordable housing along with public open space, a children's play area and sustainable drainage systems, according to the applicant.
