Cabinet named for new-look county council

STAFFORDSHIRE County Council's leader-elect has chosen his new cabinet. Ian Cooper is set to become the council's new leader after being elected leader of the ruling Reform group, which took 49 out of 62 seats in this month's local elections.

Cllr Cooper has now announced the Reform councillors who will be joining him on the authority's cabinet. Ten councillors will sit on Reform's cabinet the previous Conservative cabinet had nine full members and three support members.
The portfolios are mostly the same as before, but one notable change is that there will no longer be a cabinet member for environment, infrastructure and climate change. Instead there will be a cabinet member for connectivity, with a community safety portfolio also being created.
