Storm hit church completes £500,000 roof repairs

Vital roof repairs at a historic church in Lancaster damaged during Storm Desmond flooding in 2015, have been successfully completed thanks to a £574,000 grant from Historic England.

The project at the Church of St John the Evangelist, on North Road, has not only made the Grade II* listed building watertight but also delivered exceptional training for people seeking careers in heritage building skills.
The comprehensive repair programme addressed critical roof and masonry issues caused by Storm Desmond flooding a decade ago.
