Reform UK gains councillor after latest defection

Reform UK has its first councillor on South Ribble Council after the latest Conservative Party defection.
Coun Mathew Forshaw, who represents Coupe Green and Gregson Lane, announced his defection from the Tories by saying the party no longer stands up for values of 'hard work, personal responsibility and standing up for what's right'.
His defection comes as one of 20 announced to coincide with the Conservative Party Conference, although it is the only one in Lancashire. Coun Forshaw said he is convinced that with Reform UK he will have the proper platform to challenge the Labour administration in South Ribble.
