New era off to exciting start with 40-Over Cup collisions

Chorley, Euxton and Leyland all won their opening 40-Over League Cup matches as the first season of cricket's new Northern Pyramid got under way.

The season began for the 20 Northern Premier League clubs with an expanded cup competition, in which each team plays six games in a bid to qualify for the quarter-finals.
Euxton won a high-scoring thriller at Longridge by six wickets. The hosts posted 221-6 as opener Taariq Chiecktey made 101.
