Major work is announced for 'partly unusable' town library
Lancashire Evening Post
|April 30, 2026
Major work will soon be taking place on Chorley’s leaking - and partly unusable - Central Library.
-
The building in Union Street, which is known for its terracotta decoration, has operated as a library since 1986, before which it housed the former Chorley Technical and Secondary School, which was opened in 1906.
But now Lancashire County Council said it is facing issues due to a damaged and corroded roof system-which needs a full replacement.
