Longridge are off to a flyer but Garstang beaten

Garstang's North West Counties Football League season got off to a losing start but there was victory on the opening day for Longridge Town.
Both faced clubs who did the league double over them last season and Maine Road continued to have the edge on Garstang in First Division North.
Guy Heffernan's side went down 1-0 in Manchester, Samuel Wrigley netting the only goal after 10 minutes.
Another new signing, Harvey Whittaker, went close after the break as did Andrew Murphy.
Goalkeeper Joe Lawton was another debutant, with new signings Luke Draysey (striker) and Sam Burton (winger) on the bench.
