This became apparent when I was an hour late for work after returning from walking the dog to find myself unable to open the front door.

“Ooh, someone's in trouble,” came the general reply from the ring around of those colleagues who needed to know.

No-one had used the cover of canine exercise hour to swiftly change the locks and no-one was hiding behind the couch after bolting the door from the inside.

So the assumption was one of the fellow key holders had locked up and left the house inaccessible to the main wage earner.
