It feels like it's raining cats and dogs on the Costa del Sol

We've been learning a lot of late about the art of give and take.

Whether that be about new trade agreements between the UK and India or even more significantly between the UK and Europe.

Also on the frontiers of conflict particularly in Ukraine and Gaza.

But what the phrase was never meant to encapsulate was the idea of “you give in and I'll take all the credit.”

This is the accusation most levelled at Donald Trump: That the American view is the only view, especially when it comes to defining democracy

So it was astonishing to see Trump commenting on possible Russia/Ukraine peace talk manoeuvres by warning: “There are some big egos involved.”

For once, not speaking about himself, but rather presidents Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.

Even so, Trump has increasingly arrived at a mind-set where he believes nothing can be successfully resolved in the world without his direct involvement.
