Grooming inquiry delayed despite damning report

In late October a fourth abuse survivor resigned from their role in the Government's inquiry into the notorious grooming gangs.

They resigned in protest. Each said the protest felt like a cover-up and had created a toxic environment for all survivors.

They complained of stage management and a sense of control.

A chairperson has yet to be appointed despite Starmer announcing in June that a national inquiry would be set up to look into grooming gangs in places such as Bradford, Rotherham, Barrow and Oxford.

A panel of survivors would be established to oversee the process.
