Life now is becoming dominated by the algorithm.

Escape with Monsieur Hulot to the strange world of 1950s Paris

Everything we consume is being recorded so that corporations can offer you more of what you supposedly like.

If you like videos of cats jumping into plant pots on Facebook, the chances are you'll see more next time you log on, ad infinitum.

The recommendation engine is everything now, especially in entertainment and the data of our preferences is dictating what films will be made.

People binge boxsets because producers know exactly how long an episode should be and when to introduce the cliffhanger to make you watch the next one.

So if you watch Netflix chances are you might notice a lot of stuff is becoming, well, very similar.

A former special services soldier is trying to live a quiet life in a typical suburb when an accident/tragedy/etc forces him/her back into their old life of blowing things up and shooting people in the face.

Sound familiar?

Exactly how many 'special forces' people are out there, all reliving terrible traumas and burying their 'special skills', ready to reap mighty vengeance?

I also detest films based on comic books, which seem to make up about 90 per cent of the output of Hollywood these days.

More and more elaborate CGI fights, knocking buildings over and flying around in the sky. Please, grow up. Comic books are for children.
