More than a hill or a shrine, the elevated land is a living bond between generations, faith, and the breathtaking landscape of the valley.

Kashmir's Hill of Faith and New Beginnings

I grew up hearing the call: "Walsa Baab Soebun Gasow." It means, simply, "Let's go to Baab Soubun.

For people in Magam and Beerwah, it’s more than words. It's a call to peace, faith, and nature's embrace.

Baab Soubun is the shrine of Baba Haneef U Din Reshi, called Baab Sob by locals, resting atop Daresh Hill.

For me, and many others, it’s a place where the spiritual and the natural meet in perfect harmony.

Baab Sob was a devoted disciple of Hazrat Zain Ud Din Wali of Ashmuqam, who followed the revered Sheikh Noor Ud Din Noorani.

Guided by his master, Baab Sob settled on the gentle hillock of Daresh in Rathsun Magam. He spent years in deep meditation, seeking closeness to the Divine. His presence made the hill sacred.

Today, his shrine draws those searching for solace, reflection, and a connection to something greater.

Daresh Hill is easy to reach. Just 25 kilometres from Srinagar, it sits near Magam and Beerwah, connected by roads through Budgam, Radbugh, Chewdara, and Ohangam.
