FORMER ISLE MP TAKES ON ROLE IN PARLIAMENTARY GROUP
FORMER South Thanet MP Lord Craig Mackinlay has welcomed the relaunch of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Sepsis, describing it as “a milestone moment” in the fight against one of the UK’s deadliest medical conditions.
Lord Mackinlay, who earned the moniker "Bionic Peer" following his recovery from sepsis, has become a advocate for awareness and action.
After contracting the illness in September 2023, he survived against overwhelming odds, spending eight months in hospital and losing all four limbs.
In October 2024, he made history as the first quadruple amputee to take a seat in the House of Lords, following his appointment as a life peer in the Prime Minister's Dissolution Honours List.
