UPON arrival at the Riverside Park Hotel in Co Wexford, your first thought will be that this place definitely lives up to its name.

- BY ROHAN SMYTH

Situated slap-bang beside the River Slaney in the picturesque town of Enniscorthy, the hotel certainly didn't acquire its moniker just on a whim.

A scenic location such as this does make for a great first impression - and, thankfully, after a weekend stay with my family during the summer, the Riverside Park Hotel also made quite a lasting one.

After checking in and setting up our stuff in our comfy family room, we were ready to explore a bit more of the hotel and its surroundings.

The first stop was for some grub and we were spoilt for choice with the Riverside boasting three tempting options for dining. It's hard to beat bar food when you're on holiday though and so we hit the Prom Bar, which offers both indoor and outdoor seating with great views of the river running by.

We didn't quite snag one of these tables unfortunately - it being a busy weekend with a wedding on and the All-Ireland final - but still enjoyed a delicious meal and afterwards we decided to get a closer look at the river by taking a stroll.
