After his 6 Nations sickener Prendergast will use special occasion to kick-start exciting finale

LEADING Connacht out at MacHale Park tomorrow is the perfect antidote to Cian Prendergast’s frustrating Six Nations.

Named on the bench for the round three clash with Wales, Prendergast then missed out on the chance to play his part in the Triple Crown-clinching victory in Cardiff.

“I woke up Saturday morning with a vomiting bug,” he revealed.

It was, pardon the pun, a sickening feeling for the 25-year-old.

Since starting against England in the Summer Nations Series in August 2023, the flanker’s only appearance for Ireland prior to this year’s championship came off the bench against Fiji in November.

His younger brother, Sam (above) was in the starting line-up at the Millennium Stadium and their parents and sister were in the stands, waiting for the moment the duo would play together for Ireland in the Six Nations.

“Yeah, that was the immediate thought,” said Prendergast. “That it was going to be such a special day for the family and that’s probably what killed me the most, but look...”
