WAT'S GOING ON?

WHAT the hell is going on at Waterford Football Club?

WAT'S GOING ON?

After a decent start the Blues have now lost eight games on the bounce, seven in the League and another in the Munster Senior Cup.

The manager who got them back into the Premier Division in 2023 and kept them there last season, Keith Long, got the sack on Saturday.

What a sad state of affairs.

Then over the weekend after that home hammering by Sligo Rovers, Waterford FC owner Jamie Pilley, son of former owner Andy Pilley, appointed Matt Lawlor as 'Interim Head Coach'.

By all accounts Matt is a decent coach, good guy and of course was Long's assistant for seven months last season before being called back to Fleetwood Town to be an assistant to Charlie Adam.

Almost immediately he stepped up to be hold the fort as Adam was sacked in December. He had been caretaker manager before at Fleetwood when Celtic legend Scott Brown got the sack.
