THE new co-presenter of Cheap Irish Homes is an architect who landed the job when a Covid-era YouTube video of him was spotted by a producer.

A Co Kerry farmer's son, Tadhg Casey was chosen out of the blue and now hopes to be retained for more series on RTE's long-running home design show with well-known presenter Maggie Molloy.

Tadhg, 40, fell into the telly job completely by accident when a video that he filmed during the pandemic lock-downs was spotted by a TV producer who then invited him to do a screen test.

He told The Star: "It is my first time on TV. I grew up on a farm and my mother was a school teacher.

"I got into woodwork and technical graphics in secondary school and really, with those two, made me feel something for architecture.
