U2 quitarist joins thousands of others to become an Irish citizen
U2'S The Edge shook hands with a fellow new citizen yesterday as he finally received the right to an Irish passport yesterday.
Thousands gathered at Killarney's Gleneagle Hotel for the ceremony, which was one of seven granting full citizenship to around 7,500 people from over 143 countries.
Essex-born The Edge, real name David Howell-Evans, 63, said afterwards: "Today's ceremony was very moving, the room was full of so many people, everyone from different backgrounds, with different stories.
