Guru Kenyon solved champ Scheffler’s only remaining problem... the greens

- BY NEIL McLEMAN @NeilMcLeman

OPEN champion Scottie Scheffler has paid tribute to the English putting guru who cured the only weakness in his game.

The world No.1 started working with Phil Kenyon at the 2023 Tour Championships after struggling on the greens.

And the American superstar has improved from No.162 in the PGA Tour putting stats two years ago to 77 last year and now up to 21.

The new Open champion was ranked second for strokes gained on the greens at Royal Portrush as he made 19 birdies and an eagle - and lots of par saves.

Combine his new putting touch with his peerless ball striking - he leads the PGA Tour on scoring average, strokes gained and strokes gained tee to green - and four-time Major winner Scheffler has become unstoppable.
